Killer/s must be made to suffer same pain

NO WORDS could described how stunned the public is when news reports revealed that the body of the young girl in a sports bag found in PJ on Monday was that of Nurin Jazlin Jazimin. Only 8 years old, the Std 2 girl was brutalised in a manner that makes even the most mild-mannered person in society capable of turning into a beast should the person lay his or her hands on the murderer/s.

Missing since Aug 20, today marked exactly one month since her parents, relatives, the Police, friends, neighbours and well-wishers searched nooks and corners trying to find her. And when news and picture of a dead girl found in a sports bag was released through the newspapers, normal people everywhere stood stung by the bestiality of such an act.

If there's a crime that the police has to solve, this is surely one that demands high priority. This, to me, is the mother of all crimes that this country has seen in a long while. Which leads many of us asking one simple question - what's happening to this beloved country of ours? Have we lost control of ourselves that there are persons who can turn to become savages at the mere sight of an innocent 8 year old girl?

The beast must be found, and found quickly. And when found, justice must be dispensed with swiftly. The normal view is that the full weight of the law must be brought to bear on the culprit should he be found and brought to trial. But many will join Nurin's parents is asking - even punishment by death may not be fair enough in seing justice done on a victim who knows no evil and was innocent in all matters pertaining to her short life.

I am of the view that normal laws cannot be applied when punishing Nurin's killer or killers. The killer or killers' act of savagery must be met with no less primitive and brutal acts of punishment. Why should rationale people punish savages with decent laws when they have committed such barbaric acts?

Friends in the legal fraternity will argue otherwise, and I respect their views. But I'm sure all parents harbour similar thoughts as me.

Let us hope this AWAKES us MALAYSIANS that Malaysia needs some revamping. This atmosphere of no accountability will spread to every segment of society into every area.

WE ARE RESPONSIBLE IF WE DO NOT DO WHAT IS RIGHT FROM NOW.

WE NEED TO ENSURE A MORE OPEN AND TRANSPARENT GOVERNMENT AND CRIME FIGHTING IN THE COUNTRY. What is all this corrupt IGP allegations, kawan with kingpin stories including various evidences, true or not, we need to DEMAND TRANSPARENCY. It will be more sad news to come but we need to be STRONG and BUILD A MALAYSIA THATS FOR OUR CHILDREN. FREE MALAYSIA FROM ALL THIS CRAP. We need to be the freedom fighters so that we can shout Merdeka meaningfully next year.

Its all about transparency. We have lost that since we are not proud of hard work that we do. We have lost that since we believed we can choose easy way outs. We have lost that since the environment suggest that no one is watching us since the top post go away with corruption easily. We have lost that since no one will really bothers when something bad happens, and we have ourselves to blame.

But, when there is a WILL, there is a WAY

Where is Thy Will, O Malaysians,
Where is thy spirit to seek after justice
Where is thy compassion to comfort the loss
Where is thy anger over injustice

Has it been silenced by ISA?
Has it been tamed by uncompetitiveness?
Has it been confused over misreporting of the mass media?
Has it been screwed up by the powers that be?
So that we do not know what is praise worthy and what is shameful?

Kerja halal harus dipuji
Penat lelah datangkan rezeki
Yang lemah menerima subsidi
Yang tamak hukuman diberi
Sistem adil mendorong kualiti
Kerja halal tak patut disembunyi
Biar yang miskin mendapat DEB
Yang kaya diskaun rumah tak dikehendaki
Lebih bangga dengan amalan terpuji
Sejak bila kita tidak ingin disegani
Selepas mendapat easy money?
Tetapi melupakan pahala Ilahi
Jalan yang benar biar diikuti
Adil dan saksama dijadikan polisi
Berkat Ilahi melimpah dikehendaki

My condolences to Nurin's family. But Malaysians let us be responsible for our actions. Let us not be sorry for Malaysia. Let us live righteous lives and reform Malaysia.

Dato' I am a parent and an aunt, and I am not too rational at the moment. I am so filled with anger and despair. How can I be sure that my nieces and nephews back there are safe? This beast needs to be captured.

Salam Saudara,

The polis under pressure to find the culprits. I hope they don't take short-cut to solve the case by picking up some suspects at random. Then make them confess to the crime. But the real killer on the loose.

Sorry for my cynicism in this moment of despair and anger.

My heart goes to the family. Only God can give them comfort.

19 years ago, a baby boy of about 2 years old - If I remember well his name was balasubramaniam - was found dead at a garbage disposal area in the vicinity of tha KL Hospital.

He was brutalised, with cigarette burn marks and other ,marks not easily spoken of.. He looked like a healthy and robust baby if not for the wounds.

My own son at that time was about that age. I remember how the story gripped us.

Thankfully The police found the guilty person and he was later sentenced to death.

It was said then Bala's misery and death should not be for nothing.

I hope this time, Nurin's death should not be for nothing too.

Charge the parents for negligence.

All other issues aside, instead of pointing fingers and while we wait for the monster to be caught, (if and when), and punished (Believe me he is already being punished for Allah's justice will prevail in this life and in the hereafter), En Mat don't you think there is more that needs to be done. I mean in terms of improving how we respond to cases of very young missing children. Bloggers Nuriana Saman and Princess Journals proposed the AMBER Alert system which has some merit here on my blog www.tembam.wordpress.com

Salam,

Quoting you: "I am of the view that normal laws cannot be applied when punishing Nurin's killer or killers. The killer or killers' act of savagery must be met with no less primitive and brutal acts of punishment. Why should rationale people punish savages with decent laws when they have committed such barbaric acts?"

I am sure you are talking as a parent. And I admit that I've never had a child and therefore, I can't even imagine how a parent would feel should their child or children suffer such a fate.

However, we are defined by the rules (among many others) that we create and agreed to adhere to, which separate us from, say, pigs.

An-eye-for-an-eye is not the solution, no matter how emotional we are about the tragedy. It will never fully heal the wound and pain. And then what?

The scar will always be there. Time doesn't heal. It numbs, at best.

At the same time, the killer or 'beast' as many people refer to the killer as (I have no idea what kind of beast or animal would do such a thing and therefore, let's not make our zoological friends look bad, shall we?) is definitely suffering from some kind of 'illness', to put it simply.

I won't be surprised that should he/she/they be caught, put on trial, found guilty and when the execution day comes (let's say hanged to death), he will simply laugh in front of the prison officials, executioner, Nurin's parents, cops, lawyers, medical personnel, NGO reps, etc who are watching the execution. So, how? Will that bring even half a satisfaction to the girl's parents, or otherwise?

Let justice take its course. We created the system and who else but us who should put it to use. Otherwise, we are a bunch of idiots.

The real and best punishment is when the killer meets his/her/their maker on Judgement Day. I'm sure whoever believes in God will agree to this part.

I know this is far-fetched to many people but imagine this scenario - What if the killer, while languishing in prison, on death row, actually comes to his senses and repents? If he is a Muslim, dia bertaubat nasuha. Asking for forgiveness. Seriously admitted that he was being a 'beast' in committing the crime. He's very sorry, menyesal and all that crap.

Yes, he will still be punished with our system but will the parents forgive him? Maybe. Maybe not. But I'm sure God will. Otherwise, all those ulamaks and ustaz have been bullshitting me all this while...

Just my 3 sen's worth...
