Need better signage to Lumut, the MB's town

WHILE waiting for a couple of major assignments in the next few weeks, I decided to join the first family day for Yayasan Salam in Lumut over the weekend. It was indeed a very meaningful one for staff and their families. We all took a complete break from work and got together for a smashing weekend of fun and games. The staff worked very hard for this first-ever gathering. But I noticed that the Lumut Local Council could help tourists with better road signage to help tourists and visitors. For instance, if you had left the Swiss Garden Resort to join the main road, you'd come to a T-junction with no indication which route to take. Do you take the right turn to Lumut or the left to God-Knows-Where (Ipoh probably). I took a guess and turned right. Yup! I reached Lumut. I was lucky. Things like this should be looked into seriously. If I had taken the left turn I would probably have missed Lumut, or taken a longer route to the seaside town. Anywhere, for friends in Salam, here are some photographs taken from the family day outing.

Agree on this. I also had a bad time looking for signage to Lumut when I went there last year...

Didn't you call me to find out whether to turn right or left at that turn?

By the way, if you took the left turn and continue for about ten minutes or so, you'll reach a river. A small road, which follows the riverbank, will take you upriver. I don't know where this will lead or the name of the river.

Yes, we took the left turn the first time and made a u-turn after realising we couldn't get to the town by using that road.

Dear Dato' Mat, It is not just Lumut even the State Capital Ipoh needs better road signage too. Getting to Ipoh is not a problem but getting around in the city is tough. My congratulations on your recent appointment.

I agree!
We Malaysian are very weak about having good signage for our tourists and also local tourists.
Come on please do something.... look ata our neigbhour down south, if we're incapable of doing something better than them!

Datuk Mat. I selalu juga singgah kat Lumut on my way back to Puncak Alam from Kedah. The majlis has done an excellent job sprucing up the town. But its signboards...they are just confusing enough even for regular travellers like me. A good signboard is just like a good communications skill for an ordinary man...can take you (or the town) to a higher level in life. Believe me.
