Selamat hari raya, maaf zahir batin

PS: Ashraf, saya dah cabut kebel TV tu!

Assalamu'alaikum Yop.

Just wishing you the usual Selamat Hari raya, Ma'af Zahir dan bathin seems inadequte, Ahmad. Although that is the gist of what I want to say.

More than that I would like to wish you and your family good health, happy days and may Allah bless you all.

They say that if you want to please your parents after they left you for the hereafter, one of the ways is to show kindness to their friends who are still living.

Both our fathers, who were friends, has passed away. But your mother is still here.

When my mother was lonely after my father passed away, she used to go to that dusun near where your mother sometimes would come down from KL. Many a time they meet and they would talk... and they were friends.

I am happy to show respect to your mother. And I am very happy to see that you look after your mother well.

Living in one of these villages that dotted the foothills of the mighty Titiwangsa, I am less in touch with city friends as I used to. I go and meet them from time to time, of course, but at their domain. With you coming by ever so often, and with the little projects that have started with your initiatives - both for your own and for the community - I found life to be not so 'left behind'. And we met in my 'domain' so to speak. And we talk a lot when we meet!

Therefore, I would like more than just wish you the usual SHRMZnBathin rhetoric. I really would like to say thank you for your friendship.

See you around. Wassalam.
